On 1 April 2002, the Regional Arts Boards and the Arts Council of England joined together to create a new single arts funding and development organisation. At the same time Southern Arts and South East Arts joined together to create a new regional arts council for the south and south east of England. Southern & South East Arts will work with South West Arts to create a regional arts council in the south west of England.
As a result of this merger Southern Arts will fade into history, or rather embark on a new journey. The journey started in the late sixties and has seen a number of changes both in structure and in staff. Southern Arts have been operating from Winchester for more years than one can remember. She will be leaving Winchester for a new base in Brighton early 2003.
This site is geared for the staff both past and present, which has grown within the cradle of what was Southern Arts. It is hoped you can use this site to bring back memories of your time within Southern Arts or just keep in touch with former colleagues. The private members area will allow you to send messages to each other keep up to date with reunions that are being planned. As we all move to our next window of opportunity we will remember fondly the people and the company and this site will keep this fresh for sometime to come.
